Today is the annual MET Costume Institute Gala, and Alicia is one of the attendees! The MET Gala is a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the Costume Institute (a.k.a. the fashion department), the only one of the Met’s curatorial departments that has to fund itself. The event is considered to be one of the biggest of the year, and only the biggest stars gets invited!
Alicia is gracing the red carpet this very minute, looking absolutely fierce in an unique custom made Louis Vuitton. We will update with many HQs tomorrow, but for now – check out how gorgeous Alicia looks below! And make sure to follow us on twitter for updates throughout the night.
Hello Alicia fans! My name is Sara, and I will be helping Elise here at Alicia Vikander Online. I have been a fan of Alicia ever since I saw her in “Till det som är vackert” back in 2010, and I am so honored to be a part of this great fansite! For my first update here, I have added +70 new additions from the ‘Son of a Gun’ photocall Alicia did back in 2014. She looks amazing! Previews below, and you can check them all out in our gallery.
Alicia Vikander has been cast today as Lara Croft for MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films in Tomb Raider. The reboot will tell the story of a young and untested Lara Croft fighting to survive her first adventure. Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is directing. MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing the film with MGM overseeing production. They acquired film rights from GK Films, which had previously purchased film rights in 2011 from Square Enix LTD. Graham King is serving as producer.
This is the latest plum role for Vikander, and arguably her highest-profile one yet. She next co-stars in Jason Bourne opposite Matt Damon. Her success continues to rise following a successful 2015 that saw her performance in Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl win an Academy Award for best supporting actress as well as a memorable turn in Ex Machina as possibly the best-looking and ruthless robot in the history of cinema. She also has The Light Between Oceans opposite Michael Fassbender in the pipelines. That film has been generating awards-season buzz even though it will not be released before the end of the year.
This was a role that every young actress was after with Daisy Ridley, Cara Delevigne, Emilia Clarke and Saoirse Ronan all rumored at some point. Vikander looks a strong choice for this potential franchise, given she has form with a perfect English accent. She is currently filming Submergence for Wim Wenders opposite James McAvoy.
Lara Croft was famously played in its previous incarnation by Angelina Jolie at her most kick-ass and pneumatic.
The original Tomb Raider game was published in 1996 by the London-based video game company Eidos and went on to become one of the most successful video games of the time. Eidos (including Crystal Dynamics) is now part of Square Enix, an international interactive entertainment group.
The latest adaptation, which has been in development for several years, received a jolt of adrenaline when the video game series was rebooted with 2013’s Tomb Raider, which depicted Croft’s first adventure as an archaeology student, and follow-up Rise Of The Tomb Raider.
The first official trailer of ‘Tulip Fever‘ has finally been released! The movie, although shot two years ago, is set to be released on July 15th. Check it out below:
An artist falls for a young married woman while he’s commissioned to paint her portrait during the tulip mania of 17th century Amsterdam.
Directed by Justin Chadwick, the long-gestating period drama also stars Dean DeHaan and Christoph Waltz.
Tulip Fever is finally blooming.
The period drama — starring Oscar winner Alicia Vikander opposite Dean DeHaan and Christoph Waltz — will open in select theaters July 15, The Weinstein Co. announced Tuesday.
A passion project for British producer Alison Owen, Tulip Fever is based on Deborah Moggach’s novel about an artist (DeHaan) who falls in love with a married woman (Vikander) after he’s commissioned by the husband (Waltz) to paint her portrait. Justin Chadwick directed from an adapted script by Tom Stoppard.
The film is set in Netherlands in the early 17th century, during the period known as Tulip Mania, when single bulbs would sell for enormous sums. In Tulip Fever, the two young lovers decide to invest in the risky tulip market in order to build a future together.
Harvey Weinstein has become a huge proponent of opening specialty films year-round, versus crowding them into the fall corridor (the heart of award season).
Tulip Fever, shot in 2014, has been finished for a year but only now has a release date.
As promised by the few teasers released by Production earlier this week, the first full-length trailer for Jason Bourne has been unveiled. Check it out below:
